SPA Taper Lock Pulleys Used with A or SPA / XPA Section Belts

SPA pulleys are used with A or SPA / XPA Section Belts. This section has single to six groove taper lock pulleys.SPA taper lock pulleys for taper bushes are the primary type of V-belt pulleys. They are produced in standard series and dimensions. They are made of gray cast iron. The pulleys are mounted to the shafts using the Taper bushes. The Taper bush does not only secure the pulley on the shaft with a keyway but also fixes it against axial displacement.

As one of the taper lock pulley manufacturers, suppliers, and exporters of mechanical products, We offer taper lock pulley and many other products. Please get in touch with us for details.

Correct Installation Steps of Pulley and Taper Sleeve

1. Remove the oil, paint, and contaminants remaining on the shaft, the inner hole of the tapered sleeve, the outer surface of the tapered sleeve, and the surface of the tapered hole of the pulley, and remove the surface burrs. Note: The use of lubricant will cause the pulley to crack, do not use any oil when installing.

2. Put the taper sleeve into the taper hole of the pulley, aligning each hole (each complete hole has only half of the thread).

3. Add a little oil to the thread of the mounting screw, and then screw it into the half-threaded hole of the pulley. Note: Do not lubricate the tapered sleeve, the hub’s tapered surface, the sleeve’s inner cavity, and the shaft. The use of lubricant will cause the pulley to break.

4. Install the key in the keyway of the shaft, install the tapered sleeve of the pulley on the post, and position it, allowing the pulley to move slightly axially when it is locked. Note: When installing a pulley on a vertical shaft, take precautions to prevent the pulley or taper from falling off during installation.

5. Tighten the mounting screws alternately until the tapered surface of the pulley and the tapered sleeve are entirely fitted. NOTE: Do not use a worn hex wrench as it may cause loose fitting or damage to the mounting screws.

6. Check alignment and pulley runout (swing); correct if necessary.

7. Continue to alternately tighten the mounting screws to the recommended shrinking torque value of the mounting screws, and do not apply additional force after reaching the recommended tightening torque value of the mounting screws.

8. To increase the gripping force of the taper sleeve, tap the end face of the taper sleeve moderately with a hammer through the pad iron or sleeve. Note: Do not hit the taper sleeve directly with a hammer.

9. Tighten the taper sleeve mounting screws again after tapping.

10. Re-check the torque after the first test run, and check it regularly in the future. If it is loose, repeat steps 5-9.

Taper Lock Pulleys removal method:

1. Loosen all bolts, take out one or two bolts according to the number of disassembly holes, lubricate the bolt pattern and tip with oil, and insert the bolt into the disassembly hole.

2. Tighten the bolts alternately until the taper sleeve and pulley are loosened.

3. Remove the taper sleeve and pulley from the shaft.

Pulley Production Process

A V-pulley manufacturing process includes the following steps:
Forming a pulley: integrally forming a cylindrical pulley blank;
machining V-belt grooves: cutting the external surface of the pulley blank to form a plurality of V-belt grooves matching a V belt;
Fine machining: cutting the external surface of the pulley blank and the side surfaces of the belt grooves, and cutting off a machining allowance;
Shot blasting: Place the pulley in a shot blasting machine to form a rough shot blasting layer on the side surfaces of the V-belt grooves. The pulley manufactured through the above process has a high friction coefficient of the side surfaces of the belt grooves and therefore has the advantage of preventing slippage and having high transmission efficiency.
